Obituary for Ferdinand Lawson Thompson

Private family interment for Dr. Lawson Thompson, 76 year old Buffalo resident who passed away Sunday at his home north of Buffalo, will be held by his family. Donations in Dr. Thompson’s memory may be made to the NRA in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Online condolences may be made at
Ferdinand Lawson Thompson was born on June 16, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to Ferdinand and Nancy Thompson. He grew up and went to school in Dallas and graduated from Jesuit College Prep School in Dallas with the class of 1959. After high school he attended various colleges and received his B.S. in Theology. He was married on June 28, 1972 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jacquelyn Kresken and they made their home in the Milwaukee area. He completed his Master’s Degree in Theology at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama and received a Doctorate in Education Administration from Marquette University in 1984. Dr. Thompson took a position with Waukesha County Technical College as the Dean of the Division of Health and Service Occupations where he worked for 27 years retiring in 2002. After retirement Dr. Thompson and Jacquelyn moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where he lived until his death.
Lawson was a gun collector and participated in Cowboy Action shooting and enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn Thompson of Buffalo; one daughter, Dr. Tonia Gardner and her husband Dr. Jay Gardner of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother Preston Thompson of Bend, Oregon; two sisters, Diana Reilly of Dallas, Texas and Jeanine Allen of Santa Fe, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Anna, Alex and Olivia Gardner all of Memphis.
