Graveside funeral services for Robert Winingar, 93 year old Buffalo man who passed away early Monday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center, will be held Saturday, July 14th at 11:30 a.m. in the Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo with Father Pete Johnson officiating. The American Legion and VFW will be in charge of military graveside services. Donations in Mr. Winingar’s memory may be made to the Robert Winingar Fund to help the family with final expenses. Robert Robinson Winingar was born on April 14, 1925 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Jesse and Adeline Winingar. He grew up on the family ranch 35 miles south of Buffalo at the Red Cliff Ranch. He attended Willow Glen country school until the seventh grade and graduated from the eighth grade in Buffalo. He attended Johnson County High School and in January of 1943, at the age of seventeen, following the Pearl Harbor attack, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and in China, during WWII. He was married on December 18, 1947 in Riverside, California to Virginia Albidrez. Following an honorable discharge from the Military in January of 1949 the couple made their home in Buffalo. They moved to Kaycee, Wyoming where Mr. Winingar worked for the Dave Hammond Ranch and later for Brock Livestock. In the summer of 1969 they moved to the Gordon Ranch where Bob was a ranch hand and Virginia cooked part-time. In the early 1980’s they moved back to Brock Livestock where they worked until retiring in 1986 when they moved back to Buffalo. Virginia passed away in January of 2014 and Robert continued living in Buffalo until his death. He had been a resident of the Amie Holt Care Center for the past two years.
He is survived by one son, Mark Winingar of Buffalo; two daughters, Adeline Zimmerschied and her husband George of Buffalo and Evelyn Richardson of Sheridan, Wyoming; one brother John Winingar and his wife Linda of California; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Bobby Winingar.
