Funeral services for Marilyn Green, 83 year old lifetime Buffalo resident who passed away Sunday at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Saturday, May 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Buffalo with Father Doug Wasinger officiating. Visitation will be held at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo. Donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice or the Johnson County Library in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Marilyn Ann Green was born on April 6, 1935 in Buffalo to Fred and Carma Kostenbauer. She grew up and went to school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1953. She was married on May 8, 1954 in Buffalo to Fred Armstrong and they made their home in various parts of Wyoming following oil field employment. Fred was killed in an auto accident in May of 1960 and Marilyn continued living in Buffalo. She was married on January 7, 1961 in Buffalo to Bart Green and they lived in Buffalo where she owned and operated Green’s Play School for several years. She worked at the Johnson County Library and she and Bart owned and operated Buffalo Bowl for 22 years.
She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s and the Barber Shop Quartet and a member of the Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed hiking, knitting, bowling and following her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was an avid reader and loved spending summers in the mountains at her family cabin.
She is survived by her husband Bart of Buffalo; five sons, Rick Armstrong and his wife June of Houston, Texas, Scott Armstrong and his wife Suzanne of Powell, Wyoming, Zach Armstrong and his wife Shelley of Buffalo, Mike Isbell and his wife Monica of Buffalo and Jeff Green also of Buffalo; one daughter, Kathy Green Hancock and her husband Bob of Buffalo; one brother Ron Kostenbauer and his wife Bonnie of Camarillo, California; one sister Joan Herzog and her husband Bob of Buffalo; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband.
