Obituary for Oliver Reed Germann

Oliver Reed Germann, 100, of Bozeman, Montana (formerly of Wyoming) passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He recently celebrated his 100th Birthday with parties at the Veteran’s Assoc. and with family and friends at his favorite Bozeman gathering place, the Bamboo Garden.
Oliver was born October 24, 1918 and raised in Jackson Hole, Wyo. with eight siblings (bros: Cecil, Happy, Garl, Archie, and Ronald; and sisters: Lora, Pearl and Faye). Oliver attended school until about the 8th grade, when he had to quit to help on the family ranch. He left home when he was 14; and at age 23 he joined the Air Force after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. Oliver served as a B-24 tail gunner in the service and earned 7 medals in World War II, including the Purple Heart.
Oliver married the love of his life, Helen “Ardie” Lansing Germann on January 21, 1950 in Sutton, Vermont and they raised three children: Laurie, Helen “CeCe”, and Mike. He also had a son, Rick Allen, from a previous marriage. Oliver and Ardie owned and operated the Pioneer Court in Lander, Wyo. for ten years. They later lived at the Soldiers and Sailors Home of Buffalo for 15 years. After time at the State Veteran’s Home in Sheridan, Wyo., Oliver moved to Bozeman to be near family and has enjoyed residing at High County Care for the last 12 Years.
Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters, wife of 55 years, Helen “Ardie” Germann, son-in-law Lary Davis, and son, Rick Allen. He is survived by two daughters, Laura Wintermeyer of CA and Cecilia Meyer of Buffalo, Wyo.; his son, Mike Germann and his wife Sandra of Bozeman and three grandchildren, Matthew Thibault (Trina), Daniel Thibault, and Schuyler Germann; grandchildren Bruce Allen and Rikilynn Allen-Oedekoven of Centennial, CO; great grandchildren: Austin Reed, Shayelyn Allen, Kaden Allen, Shelby Phillips (Steven), Erick (Cynthia), Kennedy, Adelyn Grace and James Hudson; and four great, great grandchildren: Zaryah, Tityn Reed, Braxton and Reign, and numerous other relatives and friends. Oliver lived a long and fruitful life and the family appreciated the love and support he received from so many who helped make his final years so special.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 3625 S. 19th Avenue, Bozeman, MT. Use North doors to Fireside Room.
