Private family interment for Darrell Joubert, 69 year old Buffalo man who passed away August 30th at his home in Buffalo will be held by his family. Darrell Francis Joubert was born on January 23, 1949 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Francis and Irene Joubert. He grew up and went to school in Buffalo and graduated from Buffalo High School with the class of 1967. After high school Darrell was drafted into the U.S. Army in February of 1968 and served in Vietnam. In 1969 he married Pam Kruse in Buffalo. Darrell received an honorable discharge from the military and finished his obligation with the U.S. Army Reserve in February of 1974. He and his wife Pam made their home in Sundance, Wyoming and later were divorced. Darrell worked for the Wyoming State Highway Department until 1980 when he moved to Riverton, Wyoming and worked in the oil fields. In 1983 he married Cheryl Johnson and moved to Buffalo and were later divorced. Darrell went to work for Reeves Concrete where he worked for 15 years. Ill health forced him to retire from Reeves in 2008.
Darrell loved spending time in the mountains fishing, hunting, four wheeling and camping and enjoyed rock hunting. He also loved welding and woodworking. His family and friends called him the MacGyver. He could make something out of nothing and make it work.
Darrell is survived by his longtime companion Deb Nelson; one daughter, Stacy Bridges and her husband Troy; one brother Larry Joubert; two sisters, Vyonne Kraen and her husband Don and Linda Nielsen and her husband Bill; four grandchildren, Amy Smith and her husband Ethan, Danielle Bridges, Christopher Joubert and Brandon Joubert, one great-grandchild, Spencer Smith and one step-daughter Celeste Johnson.
He was preceded in death by parents, one son Christopher Joubert, one grandson Jacob Bridges, one step-grandson Brian Johnson, two sisters Gloria Whelan and Kathie Benjamin, infant twin brothers and one nephew Leslie Whelan.
