Barbara Jean Parks was born on February 15, 1947 in Longmont, Colorado to Robert and Jean Bashor. She grew up and went to school in Lyons, Colorado and the surrounding area and graduated from Dillon High School in Dillon, Colorado with the class of 1965. During and after high school Barbara worked as a cook’s helper at the Foothills Restaurant in Lyons and in the housekeeping department of the Breckenridge Ski Resort. It was there that she met her future husband, Benjamin Parks. Ben and Barbara were married on October 11, 1965 in Fort Worth, Texas and they made their home in Longmont, Colorado. They moved back to Breckenridge in 1967 and Barbara worked as a paralegal as Ben played in his band. Barbara and Ben moved around the State of Colorado early in their marriage and made their home in Denver. In 1970 Ben and Barbara started their own business putting music in people’s lives by installing automobile sound systems. It was in Denver that they welcomed their two children into the world, Travis and Robert. Later they decided to travel with their family to avoid the crime and busy lifestyle in Denver and started pursuing the ideal spot for their family. They enjoyed working many diverse jobs, exploring new places and playing music together. They moved to Buffalo, Wyoming in 1984 where they had their own band and played local venues. In 1985 they moved to Spokane, Washington and later to Coos Bay, Oregon where they lived for 1987 and 1988. They lived in Buffalo, Wyoming from 1994 until 1997 and then to Oklahoma City for 1997 and 1998 to care for Ben’s ailing mother. They lived to Torrington in 1998 where they lived until 2002 when they moved to Priest River, Idaho where they lived until they moved to Buffalo in April of 2018. They have lived in Buffalo until Barb’s death. Barbara loved to play poker but her passion was spending time with family.
Barbara is survived by her husband Ben Parks of Buffalo; two sons, Travis and his fiancé Jodene of Buffalo and Robert Parks and his wife Christy of Kalispell, Montana; two brothers Herb Bashor and his wife Connie of Casper, Wyoming and Mike Bashor and his partner Gene of Bloomfield, Colorado; one sister Mary Miller of Boulder, Colorado; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
