Mary Mehaffy Black, 96, of Buffalo, (formerly of Cheyenne), Wyoming died September 23rd at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital. She lived in Cheyenne for 62 years until the passing of her husband.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Sophia Newcombe College in New Orleans, Louisiana with a degree in political science in 1942.

Throughout her life she was active in social and political organizations; P.E.O. and she was a past president of the Wyoming Republican Women. She was an avid bridge player.

She married Dr. Norman Robert Black December 25, 1943 in Little Rock Arkansas; two sons Norman R. Black Jr. (Phyllis) of Palm Coast, Florida and Stephen Holland Black of Tucson Arizona; a daughter Mary Black Schiffer of Buffalo. Four grandchildren Nathan Ellis Schiffer (Marcia) of Buffalo; Mary Kathryn Treat of Evans, Colorado; Elliott John Black of Pendleton, Oregon; Hannah Elizabeth Shara (Cole) of Aurora, Colorado and eight great grandchildren and two great - great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Judge Tom M. Mehaffy and Mabel Mehaffy of Little Rock, Arkansas and her husband Norman R. Black of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September, 28th at the Union Congregational Church in Buffalo, Wyoming.

Cremation has taken place.
