Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Leona Money, 86 year old Buffalo resident who passed away Tuesday evening at the Amie Holt Care Center surrounded by her family, will be celebrated Monday, November 6th at 10:00 a.m. from the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with Father Pete Johnson as celebrant. A Vigil service will be held Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo. Visitation will be held at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside rites to follow the mass. Donations in Leona’s memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
Leona Dana Money was born on February 3, 1931 in Miles City, Montana to Thomas and Katie Belyea. She spent her early years on the family ranch on the Rosebud in Montana. She attended school and graduated from Colstrip High School in Colstrip, Montana with the class of 1948. She was married on May 22, 1949 in Forsyth, Montana to Gailand (G.F.) Money and they made their home in Colstrip. In 1951 they moved to Cody, Wyoming where they lived until 1960 when they moved to Buffalo. She was a bookkeeper for Stafford Well Service for many years. They retired in 1987 and traveled with the Good Sam’s Club and wintered in Yuma Arizona for 15 years. Gail passed away in July of 2013 and Leona continued living in Buffalo until her death.
Leona loved playing her piano, dancing, and singing with the Sweet Adelines. She especially loved spending time with her family and the annual family gatherings for the 4th of July in the Big Horn Mountains.
She is survived by two sons, Kerry Money and his wife Rhonda of Buffalo and David Money and his partner Jeffe Kennedy of Sante Fe, New Mexico; two daughters, Cathy Nicholas and her husband Tom of Cheyenne and Christine Hall and her husband Rich of Buffalo; one daughter-in-law Kathy Money of Buffalo; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Rande, one brother Clinton Belyea, and two sisters Delphine Toner and Mildred Belyea.
