Obituary for Chuck Doling

Funeral services for Chuck Doling, 92 year old Buffalo Resident and former resident of Rudy, Arkansas, will be held Thursday, March 1st at 2:00 p.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Wilson and Pastor Don Paulson officiating. Visitation will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date in the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith Arkansas. Donations in Chuck’s memory may be made to the St. Francis Animal Shelter in care of the Harness Funeral Home t 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com
Charles Paul Doling was born on May 18, 1925 in Indianola, Nebraska to Paul and Garnet (Horton) Doling, where he grew up and started school. He finished his schooling in California. He joined the US Navy in March of 1943 and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Mary Churchill in September 1944, eloping to Yuma, Arizona, and two children, Janice and Paul were born to this union. They divorced in the late 1940’s. At the end of WWII, Chuck enlisted into the newly formed US Air Force, for the remainder of his military career. He married Rene Carnes in the early 1950’s and they made their home all over the world, Japan, Thailand, Germany and multiple bases in the US. Chuck retired in 1967, after serving 24 years, settling in Rudy, Arkansas to a small farm in the Ozarks. Rene passed away 1992, and Chuck continued to live in Rudy, until 2016 when he moved to Buffalo, Wyoming, to live near family. He continued to live in Buffalo until his death.
Chuck loved his home in the mountains where he could fish, garden, and tend his animals. He is survived by one daughter, Janice Schnitzlein of Buffalo, daughter-in-law Isabel Doling, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and son, Paul Doling.
