Funeral services for Bruce Wiley, 71 year old Riverton man who went to be with our Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, will be held Saturday, September 15th at 10:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Reverend Mark Mumme officiating. Visitation will be from the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with the American Legion and VFW in charge of Military Graveside Honors. Donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Riverton or the Frontier Home Health Hospice in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Bruce Dalthorp Wiley was born on July 7, 1947 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Erwin and Helen Wiley. He was raised in Wyola, Montana and graduated from Lodge Grass High School with the class of 1965. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the Carrier USS Constellation during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge in 1972 and returned to Montana and ranching. He worked for Lee Garrett on Barber Creek west of Gillette until the early 1980s and then leased a ranch on Powder River where he ranched and also spent time working in the methane fields and retired in 2012. He was married on October 19, 2013 in Casper to the love of his life Joyce Jones Johnson and they made their home in Riverton, Wyoming where he lived until his death.
Bruce was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and will always be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, nature photography, loyalty to his friends, his generosity, kind heart and love of pranks. He was a skilled Cribbage and Pitch player and enjoyed studying history and searching out historical sites.
Bruce is survived by his wife Joyce Wiley of Riverton; one step-son Thomas Baker and his wife Victoria of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three step-daughters, Candi Fernau and her husband Lenny of Ainsworth, Nebraska, Tami Williams and her husband Todd of Stratton, Colorado and Kayla Amos and her husband Frank of Hulett, Wyoming; one brother James Wiley and his wife Nancy of Puyallup, Washington; three sisters Judy Jeffers and her husband Scott of Lodge Grass, Montana, Mary Brown and her husband Jimmy also of Lodge Grass and June Eaton of Billings, Montana; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and his beloved companion and friend Ebony. He was preceded in death by his parents, one step-daughter and one brother-in-law.
